Myfitnesspal app not working

I have been using the app for several weeks on my Windows 8.1 Nokia phone without any problems. Now suddenly after logging in successfully I get the message "could not connect to myfitnesspal. Tap to try again. I have uninstalled and reinstalled but the message still persists. The same problem is also occuring with my wife's Windows phone as well.

Can't access MFP app - it crashes on startup. No uninstalled updates. I rebooted my phone, no joy. Help page says this is an iOS known issue but fixed... not for me.
